'This fanciful bracelet of Coral and Stick Pearls, Handmade Lampwork Beads, Beach Glass, Sterling Silver and stones would delight a mermaid! Stones include Turquoise, Natural Quartz Crystals, Opalite, Sodalite, and Howlite.
The bracelet was constructed on three separate strands which thread into each other periodically to unify the design.
On any topic that interests me, I ask questions and pay attention to the answers. I constantly make connections between my established knowledge and new experiences. I guess that you could call me a lifelong learner. I have been making jewelery all my life. Sometimes I have made it to please myself, and sometimes it has been for others. I've learned good construction techniques through more than 40 years of trial and error. For instance, I have always been observant of fasteners and other finishing touches that I admired, and have incorporated the best and most appropriate into my own work. I think that is one way of expressing creative commitment.
I like the simplicity of stringing and the complexity of good design. I tend to re-string or re-style a piece many times before I am satisfied with my outcome. Sometimes I even break down a finished piece and re-do it if something displeases me at a later date.
I grew up in a shoreline community, and spent my summers at the beach. As such, I am drawn to and often inspired by marine motifs and the colors of sea, sand, and sky. Today, I live in the Shoamgum mountains, quite a distance from my beaches. I draw creative inspiration from my life
I have often felt, and finally decided that I needed to move my life's productive effort more toward expression of my individual creative needs. Also, I felt that it would be important to focus on something that could sustain us financially (as well as creatively), in the years to come. Backwoods Beadery is about 8 months old now.
