The History of Swarovski

Towards the end of the 19th century Daniel Swarovski started a company in Austria with the aim to automatically cut crystals. Enormous success followed and the company soon expanded into production of optical products, tools for abrasives and grinding, crystal cutting and the production of ornate stones made from crystal. Mostly used for the fashion and jewelry industries, as accessories, chandelier parts, and as beads and Swarovski's products are popular worldwide. The Swarovski crystals have also been used to great effect in Hollywood and featured in James Bond movies. In the 12th Olympic Winter games in Innsbruck a paperweight and key ring was created for the event. Ornate animals made form crystals ( the silver crystal range ) are now a major company product line. Renowned for its optical product line, Swarovski's binoculars and telescopes have ergonomic properties, are elegant, balanced and easy to use. For the 100th year in production the company built a theme park called Swarovski Crystal Worlds, based in Watten near Innsbrook.
